Distribution and abundance of mobile invertebrates in southwestern Australia (Masters 2016)

My research is primarily focused on the distribution and abundance of mobile marine invertebrates in Western Australia, and assessing potential changes as a result of warming and heatwaves. I will be surveying reefs along the southwestern coastline and compare my findings to previous studies. I will also gather important morphological data on the sea urchin Centrostephanus tenuispinus, which is an important species in this ecosystem that we know very little about. I also hope to identify the thermal thresholds of this species, by experimental manipulation in the laboratory, to aid in predicting future changes in distribution.
